BWA for communitiesWelcome! This area of the Brit Writers' Awards website is reserved especially for community organisations & projects. The Brit Writers' Awards is an exciting initiative designed to encourage and inspire new writing talent in people of all ages, backgrounds and beliefs. We want to unleash the hidden literary talent in the UK population, and show how creative writing is an exciting and powerful way to increase your literacy skills, enhance your capacity for self-expression and turn your dreams into reality. In order to do that, we have set up the only high-profile stage – and the biggest ever cash prize – for unpublished British writers. And now it's time to get your library, community organisation or social group involved in this huge initiative. We're encouraging organisations like yours from all over the UK to nurture the hidden creativity in their members and encourage people to submit stories, poems or songs to our nationwide competition. The finalists will attend our glittering awards ceremony in March 2010, and their group will also get to shine in the media spotlight. Libraries, community organisations & projects throughout the UK have signed up to be part of this new venture – and we'd love you to get involved too. To take advantage of all the benefits that this exciting new initiative can bring to your community organisation and its members, please call our Communities Team on 0871 237 4442 or email us at: communities@britwriters.co.uk. Being part of the BWA helps libraries of all sizes to support their local schools and also enables all of their members to enter the Brit Writers' Awards for free.
