Community membership benefits
To get involved with the Brit Writers' Awards, your library or community organisation needs to become an official member of BWA 2010. This will deliver significant benefits in all aspects of community life...
- Increased attainment among your organisation's members – It's simple: the more they write, the more they'll read, and the more they'll get out of and achieve in life.
- Fantastic prize for national winners – If an individual from your community organisation, or one of their family members, wins at the main national Brit Writers' Awards in March, they'll win a superb laptop computer.
- Public recognition and marketing materials for your community organisation – Your organisation will benefit from public recognition by being profiled (with logo) on the BWA website. You will also be able to download marketing materials, such as brochures and leaflets, which you can use to promote the initiative to your members.
- Ongoing exposure for members' work – Your community organisation will receive a regular national monthly e-update about the BWA and the progress we are making. Within this e-update, we will be showing (with the authors' permission) extracts of work being produced by members of community organisations throughout the UK.
- Certificates for your own winners – Closer to the time of shortlisting, your community organisation will receive a set of impressive certificates that you can present to the quarter-finalists, semi-finalists and finalists of your own internal BWA writing competition.
- Ongoing PR for your community organisation – If you can supply BWA with a promotional photo, we will submit it with supporting information to your local media and encourage them to cover your involvement with the initiative. Throughout the year, professional writers may be popping in to encourage your members too!
- Cash prize for winning community organisations – Your community organisation will be awarded £2,000 and a plaque if a winner at the Brit Writers' Awards ceremony in March 2010 is one of your members. This award is also valid for the winning family members of individuals associated with BWA member community organisations, provided that they have previously declared their connection to your organisation.
