How do you feel your school will benefit from holding a mini BWA competition?
"We recently went into Special Measures and as a school we need positive events to uplift staff and student morale. We have many talented students who have won competitions for their imaginative writing and as English teachers we will continue to encourage their creativity."

Make Your Wish... World Record Attempt 2010
Between now and Friday 28 May 2010, a group of students from the Academy, alongside Brit Writers, are attempting to attract the greatest number of people entering one writing competition – earning a place in the Guinness Book of World Records. And you can help! The entries for the competition must take the form of ‘life wishes’ – non-material dreams or aspirations that you would like to achieve or see fulfilled. Your wish must be between 100 and 150 words and can be submitted via this form. Maybe you'd like to cut an album in a recording studio or take your grandmother to visit her birthplace on the other side of the world. Perhaps you want to fly over the Grand Canyon in a hot-air balloon, or learn to be a circus entertainer. Whatever your wish, we want you to tell us about it! It's a good idea to keep your wish realistic. While you may dream about singing on stage with Elvis Presley or travelling back in time to stroke a dinosaur, please bear in mind that we're planning to make a selection of the wishes come true. So if yours is a real and 'grantable' wish, you stand more chance of seeing it fulfilled. Also, we're not looking for directly materialistic wishes such as 'I would like a Nintendo Wii...' or 'I wish I could win the lottery...'. Try to be inventive and creative. Try to inspire us. After all, that's what the Brit Writers' Awards Unpublished 2010 is all about. This World Record attempt will allow the Grace Academy & Brit Writers' Awards to support When You Wish Upon A Star, a UK charity set up to grant the wishes of terminally ill children. |
